I pledge
allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
and to the republic for which it stands:
ONE NATION UNDER GOD, indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all
|
|
Pledge of Allegiance
by Red Skelton
I:
Me, an individual, a committee of one.
Pledge:
Dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self-pity.
Allegiance:
My love and my devotion.
To the Flag:
Our standard; Old Glory ; a symbol of Freedom; wherever she waves there is respect, because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts, Freedom is everybody's job.
United:
That means that we have all come together.
States:
Individual communities that have united into forty-eight great states. Forty-eight individual communities with pride and dignity and purpose. All divided with imaginary boundaries, yet united to a common purpose, and that is love for country.
And to the Republic:
Republic - a state in which sovereign power is invested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And government is the people; and it's from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.
For which it stands
One Nation:
One Nation - meaning, so blessed by God.
Indivisible:
Incapable of being divided.
With Liberty:
Which is Freedom; the right of power to live one's own life, without threats, fear, or some sort of retaliation.
And Justice:
The principle, or qualities, of dealing fairly with others.
For All:
For All - which means, boys and girls, it's as much your country as it is mine.
And now, boys and girls, let me hear you recite the Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic,
for which it stands; one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Since I was a small boy, two states have been added to our country, and two words have been added to the Pledge of Allegiance: Under God. Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said that it's a prayer, and it would be eliminated from schools, too?
Red Skelton
Isn't it ironic
that 50 years ago, Red Skeleton had vision of what might
happen!!!

WHY
I LOVE HER
by John Wayne
"America,
America, God shed His grace on thee.."
You ask me why I love her ? Well, give me time and I'll
explain.
Have you seen a Kansas sunset or an Arizona rain ?
Have you drifted on a bayou down Louisiana way ?
Have you watched the cold fog drifting over San Francisco Bay
?
Have you heard a bobwhite calling in the Carolina pines
Or heard the bellow of a diesel at the Appalachia mines ?
Does the call of the Niagara thrill you when you hear her
waters roar ?
Do you look with awe and wonder at her Massachusetts shore...
Where men, who braved a hard new world, first stepped on
Plymouth's rock ?
And do you think of them when you stroll along a New York City
dock ?
Have you seen a snowflake drifting in the Rockies...way up
high ?
Have you seen the sun come blazing down from a bright Nevada
sky ?
Do you hail to the Columbia as she rushes to the sea...
Or bow your head at Gettysburg...at our struggle to be free ?
Have you seen the mighty Titans?...Have you watched an eagle
soar?
Have you seen the Mississippi roll along Missouri's shore ?
Have you felt a chill at Michigan, when on a winter's day,
Her waters rage along the shore in thunderous display ?
Does the word "Aloha"...make you warm ? Do you stare
in disbelief
When you see the surf come roaring in at Waimea Reef ?
From Alaska's cold to the Everglades...from the Rio Grande to
Maine...
My heart cries out...my pulse runs fast at the might of her
domain
You ask me why I love her ?...I've a million reasons why.
My beautiful America...beneath God's wide, wide sky.
"And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea."

I am an American
Citizen by choice and proud to be....
I became a Citizen on the 13th of May 1976, the year of our
great Country's 200th Birthday...My English is not always the
best, but the love I have in my heart for my Country could not
be any more...
I fly the flag everyday and there's nothing more beautiful
than seeing our Flag waving in a gentle breeze...When I hear
our national Anthem, my heart swell with pride and my eyes with tears...Yes
I am proud to be an American.
When I came to America I didn't expect anyone to accommodate
me by learning my native language, and sure, I still have
problems with English and sometime people will tease me and
even laugh at me...I still have my native accent when I speak,
and that too gets me into trouble-ask my friends....lol
I worked hard to get my citizenship-it was not handed to me on
a silver platter . I earned it...I had to study the
history and Government of this Country...but I can
honestly say I am proud of it.
This NOT BORN
American could not be any more proud of being an AMERICAN.
This is MY Country,
the land I love.
AMERICA LOVE HER OR LEAVE HER.
God Bless America
